After installing all my utilities and updates on my G1S windows is giving me the, "System files needed for running windows have been replaces" or something like that message. I thought it was a corrupted driver download or something, but I redownloaded and got as many drivers as I could directly from the manufacturers. What is causing this error? I've never had this problem with windows before... Is it a notebook thing or? I'm running out of ideas to fix this.

I checked the event log and they all seem to be related to right protected media settings .dlls? I installed the Nero that came installed on Vista just to see if it would work in XP (Nero is pretty good so...) Could this have caused it? The message popped up during the Nero installation so this leads me to think this is the problem.

Yes you found the issue. I had this problem with XP and Nero. To solve it I uninstalled Nero and then installed the latest version. I suggest have the application delete all associated DLL files on uninstall. Also use ccleaner to get rid of unused files, reg entries, etc...

I hope this helps you and I'll give anymore input if you need it.

Okay, this is really pissing me off. I changed my mind about dual booting with Vista and decided to just run XP until Vista SP1 comes out (At least...). Now, I didn't want to have XP on the secondary partition if this was the case, so I said no big deal, put all my drivers on a flash drive and reinstalled Windows XP with the partitioning done the way I wanted it. I first installed the ACPI pr whatever drivers with no problem, but halfway through the chipset driver install (DOWNLOADED DIRECTLY FROM INTEL, WINDOWS XP HOME SELECTED!!!!) it gave me the same fricking error! I know this is not a hardware problem so I don't blame Asus, but man, WHAT IS THE FRACKING DEAL!!!!!

Now I'm confused, as I checked the log manager to see which .dlls were affected, and there were no Windows File Protection entries! I've gotten the message twice now and neither time has produced a message...
