for pre-order on xoticpc

so is this like a combination of U30JC and UL30JT? whatever the case i want it as long as the build quality is good and the screen is nice and bright. i know the UL80 series kinda had bad build quality, is the 30 series immune from that?
UPDATE: xoticpc's website has been updated to read U30JC-A1. glad it's been updated because this is the one i wanted!
-
Seems like the difference is i3 to i7
-
That one also comes with a DVDRW drive and weighs close to 4.5 pounds
. I'll wait for the I7 in the other version of the UL30
-
does it have backlid keyboard? and will Asus enable turbo 33, because core i3 doesn´t support intel turbo boost.
-
no word on the keyboard but it says is has turbo33. So then
i3-350M = 2.26GHz
so 2.26*.33 = .7458
.7458+2.26 = 3.0058GHz
not bad -
And for $869, it is the same price as the A1!!! -
Looks like they chopped and pasted info from other systems
"ASUS has innovatively designed the UL30JC to provide you even more performance when you need it. The ASUS exclusive Turbo33 technology automatically boosts the system performance by 33% and more. When process-intensive multi-tasking is needed, Turbo33 automatically takes CPU, memory and even graphics performance to a whole new level to ensure a smooth and seamless computing experience. With this performance booster, the Intel Core2 Duo SU7300 is over 25% faster than a SU9400 CPU. This translates into almost 20% more overall system performance than a notebook powered by the SU9400."
"Experience up to 11 hours of all-day computing with the UL30JC. Thanks to its ultra-low-voltage Intel Core2 Duo processor SU7300, 8-cell battery, LED-backlit display, and ASUS Super Hybrid Engine (SHE), you can maximize your time on the move and minimize time plugged-in." -
there shouldnt be a ul30jc...
based on the CES labelling,
its either UL30JT
or a U30JC
guess we'll see in a bit whether or not this is just a typo... -
I think its a u30jc, and my guess is there will be one with an i3 and and one combo with an i5 in it, its claiming 10 hours battery life but I really doubt that with an i3 in it.
-
I also saw this advertised on xoticpc, but it confused me a bit:
If they offer this Ul30**-** model with the Intel i5-540M using the GMA HD, and without the NVIDIA card (I use linux and don't feel like messing around with trying to get switchable Hybrid SLI/Power graphics to work), then I might get this model with the 80GB Intel SSD.
I also wish that these Asus models would give the Intel 5300 wifi option like the Clevo models do. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Wow, a full 35W Core i3 and over 10 hours of battery life? Must be an awesome 8-cell battery.
-
yea with the copy/paste info, this could merely be a typo model for the U30JC...i mean as 1k3 pointed out there should only be either a U30JC or UL30JT right? what's confusing here is that this model claims the 10hrs battery life like the UL series (i assume U series doesn't get that kind of battery life?), yet has an optical drive even for the 13.3" model like the U series. so which is it lol
-
I posted on the xoticpcforums about it, the description is definetely not correct, 10 hours battery life with an i3 i don't think that is possible, and hm55 chipset with a 4500 mhd integrated graphics? That doesnt make any sense. Its also heavier so my guess is it is a u30 frame not a ul30. Its more then likely a u30jc and the battery life will probably be like 6-7 hours tops.
-
It now reads as ASUS U30JC-A1
-
This is the reply I got back from Justin at xoticpc.
The Intel Video version is not yet confirmed along with the Battery Life. I apologize we didn't get these details on their initial release information from ASUS. We will have this confirmed Monday.
My guess is the battery life will be 5-6 hours. Not sure if turbo 33 will be there either hopefully it will.
Before everybody gets all up tight about it being an I3 and not a i5. There is very minimal difference between a i3 350m and a i5 430m. i3 I think is missing some vt features, but besides that and the fact that the 430m has the overclocking thing they are pretty much the same. The overclocking will be useless if asus uses its own 33% overclocking which will actualy make it faster then a i5 520m. I think that was a very good call on asus' part using the cheaper part to lower costs. -

here's what it should really look like. seems that xoticpc is using a ul30** picture -
come on guys, since it's stated Intel® Mobile Core i3 350QM from xotic, it's not the usual i3 350M that suppose to be a lot faster. it should just be another undervoltaged processor like su7300, if they want to provide 10 hours battery.

Heres a link to xoticpc U30JC topic:

Was not what I was looking for without a backlit keyboard or even what zedomax showed from CES2010 -
looks like we are still waiting on an update for those specs from xoticpc, hopefully they will have them up with the correct pictures soon.

It looks like GenTechPC has correct pictures. Take a look!
(I'm disappointed in the color scheme though. Looks just like the rest..) -

link? -
it comes up if you search for it on their site. but here's the link anyhow

man i was so set on this model but then i realized there's no expresscard slot. given that this doesn't have usb 3.0, i thought i could just buy an adapter but i guess that's a no go. hmm what to do.... -
hmm, does claim to have a turbo 33 which puts it at 3.0058ghz. that beats a i5 520m with turbo boost. Still a bit worried that it might not actually have that though since on the paper at ces it said it was going to only be a feature with the i5's.
I really want to know what this thing has for battery life. my guess is 5-6 hours. But im hoping it will have 6-7.
One thing i noticed is they copied a lot of it from the ul30vt and forgot to take out the ul30vt out of the description just like xoticpc. (shown below)
The ASUS UL30Vt features a 13-inch high definition LED backlight display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, with graphics supported by GraphiX Boost technology. It allows users to maintain a balance between surreal graphics performance and battery conservation. The ASUS GraphiX Boost allows users to switch between a dedicated NVIDIA® GeForce® G 310M graphics card for graphically intensive applications, and Intel® integrated graphics options for better energy savings.
Feast your eyes upon the ASUS UL30Vt, with a profile measuring less than 1-inch. Its aluminum alloy structure accords you with style and grace as you make your way through the day. It fits effortlessly into your day bag, haversack or briefcase, and with the brushed aluminum design, it shrugs off scratches and abrasions, protecting its gorgeous exterior.
I don't think its actually less then 1 inch thin, doesnt seem that way in the pictures so these descriptions are probably wrong.
I also don't see the expressgate button which also serves as the switching graphics button on those pictures and the motherboard claims to have the pm45 chipset, which im not sure if that supports the i3's.
