    *Product Model : UL30VT

    *Operating System : Windows 7 64bit

    [Problem Description]

Today morning when i was using the laptop on battery, the laptop suddenly turned off. The power level was around 75% and the bluetooth was on. i tried removing the battery and cleaned the contacts and refixed it, but the laptop does not power up with the battery.

The laptop however is turning on and running normally on AC power. When the AC power adapter is removed, the laptop turns off immediately.

Also, when connected to power, the taskbar icon shows that the battery is available and charging at 74%. but the charge does not increase beyond 74%. There seems to be a problem with the transfer of power from and to the battery.

can you please recommend a solution.

    thanks in advance.

You could try going into the bios and cycling the battery... though if possible its probably a good idea to send it back to Asus your battery has 1 year warranty **

Yeah it sounds like your battery is on its way out. You could try resetting your BIOS to user defaults. As pear-i mentioned, you can try recalibrating the battery, but if it turns off immediately, I'm not sure there's much hope for that. There is a 1 year warranty on retail batteries from ASUS, so you may be able to get it replaced under warranty if it's been less than a year.

    thanks for the help guys!
i tried resetting the BIOS to the default user/manufacture settings. but it didnt work.
how do i cycle the battery from the bios? is there any other way?
and also, is there any way of knowing if the problem is with the laptop or with the battery? if the problem is with the battery, its probably not a big thing to worry. i just do not want a problem with the laptop....its a new one and i just love it!
so, can u suggest me a way to find out if the problem is with the laptop or with the battery?
