I just noticed that in the forums section on the ASUS website it is listed that the UL80A and UL80V are the latest models. There is no information for either on the product pages.

i am hoping that they are new U80 variants with the nice dedicated graphics card, <5lbs weight, and backlit keys.

i think the ux30 is an aluminum encased notebook. It looks snazzy.

Does any one know anything about these computers? I'm itching to get a U80V, and still dismayed that they went End-Of-Life so quickly.

Asus UX/UL series is their Thin & Light series. Macbook Air competitors. It would stand to reason that the UL80 would be more geared towards people in that market but since the U80V went EOL so quickly maybe they thought it was too similar and pulled the plug on the U80.

Here is what I could find on the UL80 (seems no different than the U80V)

    Asus Promo

The UL20 also sounds strange since there is the U20 as well.

    Edit:

Another Link on the UL80. Bigger battery and DDR3 RAM Seems to be biggest difference.

Maybe the UL80A is a low end version.

The digit following the number (UL80 A[/i], UL80V) refers to hardware. I think it's the make of motherboard or what processors it can accept. (For example the G50vt and G51vx both have "v" and can accept the same processors. The other letters have something to do with the graphics cards, I think).
