Asus actually hasn't even displayed pictures of this at all..... at least anything you could really make anything out of. It's a 17" custom model similiar to the Z83 (which is the A7).... although the design is going to have to vary slightly so that isn't not exactly an A7...... Most likely, it's a bit more generic looking (which is hard to make an A7), but it should look like the Z62 / Z96 as that's the overall look Asus is going for with the custom models this year.

V1j? - Probably looking two months at least.... I'd say after yesterday, late October is more likely than early October as I had expected, only because the US is waiting for some sort of upgrade that isn't in the unit yet and would be needed to push the unit as a business class machine..... so I think that's going to push it back a little here.

Vx2 - Asus will deny this one till it's ready to showtime.... probably end of the year, with retail sales likely mid to late Q1 2007.

Not a clue........ other than the fact that it's obvious Asus has to position it between the V6 and W2.... so, we're probably looking at a configuration that'll put it somewhere I'd say around $2,100 maybe? It all depends on what the pricing of the Core 2 Duo's look like once they get upgraded...... if the V6 gets updated and stays at $1,999 and the W2j comes out with the higher res screen and gets it's merom update... it'll likely stay at $2,499... maybe slightly lower, you never know.. but that would give the V1 a spot between $2,199 and $2,299..... but it's all based on the configuration.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the docking station is probably going to be a $200 or more option. Depending on the cost of the unit, Asus might even go the way of including the docking station standard (unlikely, but possible) and that could be how they help position it between the V6 and W2.... you never know. It's not going to be cheap, but it's not going to be "over priced"..... you'll get everything you pay out of it, but you've just got to wait to see how it's configured in this market before making any judgements.

    I see, cheers.
That IS a bit over my budget, but fair enough, they're delaying it so I can have some extra time to work for it :)
If the dock will indeed be included that could just be the thing closing the deal.
Just another question about it if you don't mind, is it actually bigger (the size of the whole machine, not just screen) than the usual 15.4 laptop ? I remember reading something about that.

Well, it's obviously going to be more expensive than the V6.... come on, that at least is dead on, easy to see based on the specs of the notebook itself.

The W1, although a design that is more than two years old... is still small for a loaded up 15.4" notebook... the V1 is going to be slightly smaller and lighter and have more than the newest W1 has in it in Europe..... so it's going to be a good size for a 15.4".

I wasn't complaining about the price... you pay for what you get after all...

A good size is good, I think, how is it compared to a Sony Vaio FE ? could you make that comparison or is that too much to ask considering you haven't seen the V1 yet (have you?) and is not selling Sony?

Hell no.... I think the FE series is monsterous compared to what the W1 is, so most certianly bigger than the V1.

    That's me convinced.
You can write me down for one, there's just the small issue of it getting released with proper specs, getting the money, sorting out the way of me paying from Israel, and of course, me finding someone to bring it over here from my friends in Boston...
    Other than that...
