I'll be needing a laptop in my hands by mid July, and one of the main contenders was the Z63. Since the arrival of the W3V, the Z63 has really fallen off the radar. I read in another thread that it will be released in about a month's time. Is this confirmed? For a laptop based on the already released W3V, it's taking an awfully long time for it to be released.
As nice as a W3V would be, the rumoured Z63A would suit my needs much better at a more economical price; however, I need to know whether or not the Z63A will be available in Canada by mid July. Otherwise, I'll have to consider ponying up more money for the W3V, or the other top contender, the HP NX8220.
Any legitimate info concerning the Z63A and the laptops I mentioned are welcome.
-
I am also waiting for the Z63A. ISTNC emailed me yesterday and said that it had just arrived in the US. So, it should be in the shops any day now. However, this seems sooner than expected, and I hope the info is correct and hasn't been mixed up with another model.[?]
-
Well, I think Asus really dropped the ball on this one. I've been waiting several months for them to release this model and time is running out. As of now, I'm most likely going to get an HP NX8220 instead; it offers better features at a lower price than the W3V. Unless the Z63A comes out within the next two weeks, I'm going with the NX8220. It's been out for almost a month now and has received very favourable reviews. I'm running out of time to wait for the Z63A to be released and reviewed before I make a purchase...
-
Is the HP NX8220 a 15.4 widescreen? If so, why not look at the Asus Z70A or Z70V? These are refreshes of the M6, which has been SOLID!
The expected release for the Z63A wasnt until this month, so they really arent late or anything. Im sure the HP would be fine, but you could get a carbon fiber chassis, a much sleeker design, and it should be a lot cheaper (HP memory upgrades are a killer, plus, I dont think HP has a 7200 rpm hard drive option).
Anyway good luck!

The Z63A is available now and we will have some in stock on Friday.
Pricing is TBD, but will be very shortly. Please check our website later today or tomorrow for pricing.

Cool! John, did they end up being white?
-
Miufahkiu, if youre hanging on price, I doubt the Z63A will be much different than the Z70A. Sorry, man. The HP should be good. Not Asus good, though.[
]

I considered getting the Z70A/V, but I can get the NX8220 for less, with better specs. The NX8220 has a solid chassis (I believe it is carbon fibre) with a magnesium lid. It's from HP's business line of laptops, and I like the styling of it. Also, the keyboard will be more functional with the regular insert/home/page up etc. layout, and I just know that the proper placement of the ctrl key will be appreciated. Depending on how affordable the Z63 is, I may be swayed back into purchasing the Z63.

From what we have found out, it is Grey and white. Take that however you wish, but we will have pics tomorrow. It is thought to be more grey than white.

Yay, I hope it's not white! Or else I may have some buyer's remorse with my W5a [

I don't think that will be the case.

Me too, but I just don't want it to be white since I might be mistaken for an iBook user [xx(]!
My self-esteem isn't strong enough for that kind of abuse.
<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>
Hmmm.. Don't you know that the average iBook user has a higher IQ than a regular laptop user???.. []
Not that it really matters to me either.. My dislike for white notebooks is just because they look so damm "girlish". I mean, I might as well put some Hello Kitty stickers on the lid too.. just to finish the look. I have no idea how grown man can deal with the iBooks. []
I also have issues with the new VW-Beatle (the car).. I think they are very cute, but I don't want to see men driven them.. it just doesn't look right.. []

If you use an ibook, your IQ will rise to above average []
By the way will someone please give a list of girly and manly notebooks so that I don't turn into a transexual geek []

Ha!
Yeah, I was kind of bummed to hear that the Z63A might be white. I'm much happier now that it might be light gray. Oh well. My 2nd choice was the Z70A, which also would have been awesome.
Looks like I might be buying this baby as early as Friday - if available!
Now, who to buy from [}]... (I think I've already decided - anybody want to throw in a discount though?)

Some new pictures have been released of the Z63a. It's basically identical to those W3a pictures we've all seen posted from overseas. However there is one difference. While the lid and palmrest will be a grey color (basically matching the grey on the Z71v / Z70v/a ....... But the back part and battery will be WHITE like the W5a. It's a nice contrast and better than all white granted the size of the computer. The little bit that is white going to differ from the W3a which was just a lighter grey I think. There is still no ETA on the unit, but it should be here sometime in the next month.
Thanks,
Justin

The screen looks pretty reflective/glossy for a matte screen...

Hey Startech, you guys have the S5n on your ensemble page pictured as the black/carbon fiber version and not white. Are those pics accurate? Will the new S5a models be this colour or white?
What model is the Z33a based on...or an update of? (example, M5n etc...)
When do you expect the S5a and M5a models to arrive/be available?
Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance for you answers [8D] -

Hey Justin, startech mentioned earlier that the Z63a/barebone W3 is already available and that they'll have some units this Friday...why do you say around a month??? Which is accurate, I'm confused [8D]

Good morning Coma
John will be posting more z63 pictures later this morning.
To answer your questions:
The S5n's that we have in stock are Black
The new S5A's are white. They became available yesterday. We will have some on Friday.
The Z33's came in to Star Tech yesterday and is the Sonoma replacement for the M5. It is slightly liqhter in color than the M5. Otherwise it looks the same
The Z63A were released in the US yesterday. We will have them in stock on Friday baring any shipping errors by FEDEX.
Thanks
