Are the VBI models going to Canada? I don't know, I guess I can't see why they wouldn't... but Ed is correct, it's supposed to be here first, but both are supposed to be here before the end of the month... we all know how that'll turn out. There's far too much that Asus is expecting between the 15th and 25th for it all to arrive at the same time - and for them to sort everything and get them ready to go out... but we'll see.

Looks like the vbi models specs are incorrect. Comes with bluetooth is the keyword. I will investigate :)

Might consider this laptop should the barebones for A8JM is higher than my budget.

Looks almost like the A8JM minus the 512mb 7600

Speculation seems to indicate the S62J which is a VBI model will probably be out before the Z62J.

Any resellers going to be carrything the Z/S62J??

Am I not seeing them because they havent been released yet??

I really am interested in the S62j/Z62J since I dont htink my wallet can take the price blow of the A8JM anymore.

Hehe, I'm in the same boat as you dj... at $1649 for the A8Jm I would have gotten it... but now it's just too close to the price of a W3J to justify it... :(

Ah well... now I'm thinking of driving to Portland (I'm in Canada) to buy a different laptop (most likely not ASUS :( ) with no taxes...

Anyone have ideas? I'm thinking Toshiba M100... oops, this is an ASUS forum lol :asus:

I have a hard time imagining myself with a WXGA lcd especially when I multitask a lot. Do alot of cad work so need a decent video card with high res LCD.

Also I think that for myself getting a duo core laptop will have no benefits since none of my programs will make use of the multi-threaded power of the dual core.

I might just score an older asus Z71V, quanta SD-MW1 or dell laptop. I have given up on the A8JM. I have a feeling even the barebones version of it (when it does come) will be too far for my budget.

    Portland ME or Portland OR?

If the former, drive a little further into New Hampshire - no sales tax at all. I think ME is 8%.

Only catch is we don't have any Asus shops so it'll be a non-Asus brand anyway.

Hmm a lot of resellers have the Z62J supposedly coming in March-End of April.

I still dont see any of them stocking up on it. Hm. no worries. I will be happy to wait a while longer... just cant imagine what someone who ordered a W3J must be going through.

The S62j has only one drawback. It has a normal WXGA lcd , where as the Z62j has the WXGA+ lcd.

However if its cheaper, i might sway.

well it would be 1440x900 vs 1280x800.

That extra resolution can definitely come in handy. However I have to first see the price difference between the S62j and the Z62j to see whether I really can afford the additional resolution.

Supposedly the S62j will be the cheaper model. But we will see.

I THINK it should be available in both US and Canada, but no ETA yet, Asus NA has not placed the order by now.

I originally wanted a built-on / barebones of the A8JM but seeing as thats not going to happen, I have settled for the Z62j.

Come on ASUS, send this laptop to NA
