I'm having some issues with the volume on my computer...sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have to restart the computer sometimes just to get the audio to work...and other times it's just fine. The computer is still under warranty (about 1 yr old) but I figure updating my audio drivers may solve this problem. Other advice??? So, I went to the Asus website and found the appropriate drivers for my computer. I also noticed that there were a whole bunch of them for other stuff too...Modem, card reader, touchpad, wireless etc... I also have problems with my wireless...it sometimes drops for a few seconds for no reason.

My problem is how do I know if I need to update the drivers on my computer...most date back to 2008 and a few to 2009. How could I tell which version of the drivers I currently have on my computer....can I fudge things up by updating drives? Any advice would be helpful....I'm new to this...thanks.

You can go into your device manager and look at the date of the drivers for each piece of hardware, or you can also look at the driver version itself.

One note of caution - if you're not comfortable with driver installation/rollback, be careful as updates can go awry and make things worse or introduce new issues as well.

Best note of advice on drivers - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Only attempt those which address specific issues you're having, and then with care.
