Just a clarification... is there yes or no any issues with the warranty when you update your BIOS (assuming it doesn't fail of course)?

If you burn up the bios, yes, it's your fault. There is no simple way to put it. Chances of doing so are slim to none, but it can happen if you don't know what you're doing, so be careful. If a bios update isn't required, don't bother.

If something screws up when you flash, then it's your fault and I don't think warranty covers that.
However, if you flash your BIOS and something ELSE goes wrong... then that's covered by warranty (e.g. you have a new BIOS and say... your CPU fan stops working sometime after; you're covered)

If it does not fail, your warranty will not be voided by any means.

jackwong: it is nice to update to the newest BIOS usually, but if you don't see anything wrong with your notebook NOW, then there's really no point.

Thanks guys for the replies but you didn't answer my question. I'm talking about updating the BIOS assuming it will not fail. I know the risks, but I'm talking about the BIOS replacement and warranty issues, not the risk involved in the process of updating the BIOS.

Well all of the W3's out there now were more than likely produced before this bios update. The next shipment to the states that comes in next week should have that new update, but I can't even promise that as they may have been made before that update was released too.... so chances are no one at this point has it loaded on their system out of the box.

    Thanks,
