I have an A8jp, and for the longest time couldn't figure out how to get wireless console to work with the latest version of Intel Proset. I would always get an error when I tried to turn the wireless on and off with the wireless button after updating my Intel wireless drivers.

Well I have figured out how to do it. Download the latest version of wireless console from Asus website under model N80Vn. Select Vista 32bit if you are using Windows XP still. Then download ATK0100 utility, ATK Hotkey utility, and ATK generic function utility. Download latest version of intel proset. Uninstall intel proset, wireless console, and atk0100. Restart. Reinstall proset, wireless console, and all 3 new ATK utilities. Restart when prompted. Now everything should be working. In theory this should work with all Asus laptops that don't have up to date drivers, but make sure to back up your hard drive before trying just in case. I hope this helps.

Or... you could just download the absolute latest drivers from Intel.

Obviously you don't know what I am talking about. When you update to the latest Intel proset drivers, and error occurs with your Asus wireless software. Many people have had this issue so they have decided to not upgrade to the latest Intel wireless drivers. The above method mitigates this problem and allows users of older Asus laptops to update their wireless drivers.

He's talking about a problem that I haven't figured out how to get around for a very long time.

    Props.

You don't need to install proset, you can update in device manager with the "have disk" method by extracting the drivers from Intel's latest release.
    No?
This sort of thing has always worked for me, but you are right, I have not tried this specific case and could be totally out of my mind.

Without proset you cannot use the wireless button on the A8jp. Might be different for other Asus laptops. I have tried to install the drivers alone and didn't work for me. Wireless would work but I couldn't turn the wireless radio on or off with the button, had to use software. If there is a button on my laptop it might as well work.
