    Hi,

I just received my asus F3Jp laptop two days ago and I am pretty satisfied of it.
Still I am planning to upgrade the memory by myself in order to reach 2GB.
I want to take advantage of dual channel performance so according to you shoud I buy (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory like here
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145157
or can I just add another 1GB ddr2 667mhz RAM stick like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220078 ?

Can you tell me which brand, model you took ? So that I can avoid compatibilities problem.

    Thanks for your help

    Hello and welcome.

Sadly, you will only notice only slightly improvement w/ dual channel, so it not worth the money. So just go with the 1gb.

Buy memory from reputable brands such as Kingston, Crucial, Corsair and OCZ.

As NetBrakr has mentioned, dual channel only increases performance by small percentage. It is better to simply leave it out when considering RAM, and go for cheaper unmatched modules. Also, purchase RAM from reputable manufacturers, like Corsair and Kingston and those jetstar has listed.

Thanks for your advice. If dual channel doesn't really worth it, I'll just add a 1Gb stick ram. My purse will be relieved :)

Not to resurrect a dead post but...

I bought 2 F3JPs so my question is this... since I want to upgrade both of them to 2GB, I was thinking of buying one of the matched pair sets, putting that in mine, and taking the 1GB stick from mine and putting it in my wife's. My question is, even if the difference is minimal, in my case there is no waste... but will my wife get the benefits from it as well? I mean, I would think so since they are both the exact same OEM sticks, essentially... but any thoughts?

Fortunately there is no waste if I buy 2 1GB sticks matched, and it is less expensive that way anyway. <smiles>

Upgrading to 2GB is never a bad thing =P! your wife will certainly notice some benefit, depending on how she uses it. But hey, Sounds to me like everything should be in order! Go for it!

Not quite what I mean... I mean, will they work as a matched pair?
