    Hello everyone,

It's been a while since my last post but I now I need your valued recommendation from you G1S users.

I've been using my Asus G1P for about six months with much success in every game and application I've thrown at it. I really love this machine and I really didn't have any plans to upgrade to the next version G1S (I was hoping to wait a bit more for Penryn), but a friend of mine just offered me to purchase my current G1P for $1600 bucks.

That changes my perspective on upgrading, but that will set me back about $280 bucks if I want to get it at Best Buy where its priced $1749.99 plus tax. (Note: I really don't want to get it online again since I can't afford to be without it much longer than needed).

Is it really worth it to pay $280 bucks for the upgrade?

I really don't like Vista so will I be able to obtain greater performance under XP if I chose to install it instead?

I've read some G1S posts and have noticed that some of you guys are experiencing grainy screens; does that mean that the G1S has a different LCD Panel? Is this fixable? My current G1P screen is gorgeous.

I would really like to play Direct X 10 games like Crysis, Alan Wake and others on the G1S (even if I need to lower screen resolution and a bit of detail), but as far as I know those games are not out yet, but what are you expecting in terms of true DirectX10 game performance out of the G1S?

Any feedback would be really appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Crysis runs well on an 8700, so I'll assume it doesn reasonably well on a 8600. Thing is, $280 is quite a bit of money, but the differences will be little things here and there. You'll grow to appreciate it, but only if you're willing to put down $280. If you're that desperate for DX10 performance though, I'd say jump.

Thanks for your quick reply Kierkes!

You know? I wasn't aware that the BestBuy version comes with a T7300 and only one year warranty... :(

I know there's only like 200 Mhz difference there (compared with the T7500), but that plus the warranty makes me think of purchasing it online instead.

Is there anyone out there that upgraded their G1P to a G1S that can provide true life performance comparison feedback? ;)

Well, after four months since the last post on this thread, I decided to go ahead and jump to the G1S which will arrive tomorrow or the day after!

I'll post my thoughts once I have it up and running.

I'm interested on comparing it with the previous model in real life use.

    Cheers!
