Is it possible that i can go from core duo to core duo 2 on this laptop

the lambo vx1 uses a core duo 2 processor but it probably has a different mobo despite the fact that the chassis is almost identical to the v6j

the motherboard for core duo and core 2 duo is the same. it may just work when you drop it in....but most likely you will need a bios update if you want the core 2 duo to work.

do you think asus would update the bios for core duo 2 even though they never shipped one with core duo 2?

well, btotech customized them in the past with the core 2 duo so either there is a bios out, or they work with a drop in. perhaps you should email them or milestonepc (i think they customized as well) to see how they did it.

I think they were working on Merom support starting from an older version of the BIOS, 30something (I saw bug fixes in BIOS updates). So I presume it should work, but it's not guaranteed. :)

I was pretty sure that either 302 or 303 said it was Merom compatible.
