First i will start with, i have been searching for a Laptop for about a month now, i am not into HARDCORE gaming on it, just something that will run CSS at 100FPS constant.

I have searched this Laptop on this forum and i am not finding much about it.

I am considering getting one of these Laptops over the ASUS G1 because it is much cheaper.

At this 'trusted' Laptop online store in Australia, they can upgrade the Laptop to what you want (except vid card), and i have configured the F3JP to this ...

    From www.p4laptops.com.au

    C2D T7200 2Ghz
    2GB 667 RAM
    60GB 7200RPM (i have a 200gb external HDD)
    ATi x1700 512mb

    which comes to $2,265.00AUD...

All of which is much cheaper then the G1, i just need to know whether this is a good idea, i am hoping to just run Counter-strike Source at max FPS on low res and detail, i also need to know what type of screen it has, like what response time it has.

And on this Forum there has been much debate on the x1700 vs the 7700 and i am yet to see any conclusive yes or no, this GPU is better then that one type of answer....

    And the last thing is....

Does anyone think these gen of Laptops will have a significant price drop when the new 'santa rosas' and nvidia go 8's come out?

Or should i just move in for the kill now lol.

    Cheers,
    Coulsty from AUSTRALIA!!

    1. The X1700 will run CSS fine maxed out.
    2. The X1700 is about 10% slower than the Go7700, but in actual terms, you are not going to see any difference while playing. A difference of 2-3 FPS in the most graphically demanding games is irrelevant. Also, ATi's pixel shaders are better than nvidia's, so the tradeoff is more than worth it.
    3. The current generation is not likely to have a "significant" price drop, when Santa Rosa/ DX10 combos are released. The reason being that these laptops will be priced well over $1500, which is understandable. Also, current prices are quite low, as they are.
I'd say that the current deal's a good one, go for it.
    Good luck with your purchase.
