I am planning to upgrade my V6J CPU from T2050(core duo) to a T5500(core 2 duo). Will the cpu run fine when i upgrade or do i need to update my bios or anything for it to run?

It is recommended to upgrade to the latest BIOS when upgrading cpus, especially different cores like you are. If it was a straight yonah to yonah swap, then no. But since you're venturing into Merom territory, make sure you have the latest BIOS.

I agree; definitely do a BIOS upgrade beforehand to ensure that it will be recognized after you install the new CPU.

I'm quite sure the 30X line of V6J BIOSes support the Merom. But there are some bugfixes in latest versions so do use the 304 (I think that's the latest).

Make sure it's a Merom and not a Santa Rosa CPU!
