I have a z70va...Since my video card is wreaked anyway I was wondering if it would be possible to get a video upgrade from my X700 radeon and how much it would cost. I've seen stories about people upgrading their z70va but I know that probably requires replacing the mobo too.

You may want to check if the x700 is removable, you can get the x600 or x700 for it if it is indeed removable. However, if its not, then you'll need to buy a new motherboard.

There isn't any way to 'easily' take a look at the video card without tearing the whole thing apart, which is what I've been complaining about in my previous posts. Some people say that the vid is removable some people say that its welded on to the mobo but I don't want to risk breaking it to find out.

Since I have bioshock I want to upgrade as high as possible without running into problems with the form factor at least any more than are already there since the z70va already has heat management issues.

The z70va will support the x700 max, nothing else but the x600. After doing research, the x700 is indeed soldered onto the z70va motherboard, so you need a new motherboard.

So I know that this is probably a stupid question but I'm used to desktops. The case won't take any mobo that is capable of holding/being soldered with a higher card? Asus doesn't have a consistent form factor with maybe a successor laptop?

The Z70va was the last model, it was discontinued after that.

And yea, the Z70va chassis can take only one motherboard, that being the Z70va one, and that's it. Of course, customizing and modding it could be an option...
