I'm considering upgrading my G1S from the 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium that it came factory-installed with, to a 64-bit version of Vista. At the minimum, it will allow me to upgrade the memory to 4GB and then address all of that.
Has anyone done this on a G1S (or other Asus notebook) and have some experiences to share? Any ideas on what changes in performance might come about because of such an upgrade? And lastly, if the machine is mainly used to play games, what version of 64-bit Vista would be most suitable if cost is not a primary consideration?
(I'd like for my upgrade to not to cause the various devices, such as camera, to stop functioning, but I assume that if I install the various drivers/utilities from the Asus website for 64-bit Vista, it should all work.)

Personally, I think there are too many incompatibilities and driver issues with Vista 64 to make it worthwhile upgrading.
3GB of RAM should be quite enough for almost anything one can throw at a laptop. -
I agree with above post.

drivers for this laptop are available in 64bit, although some 32bit drivers kinda work on it as well. I would say that the 32bit ones are updated more often though.
some applications will not run or run with problems on 64bit. you may also have some probs with the asus applications (they may not run entirely correctly)
I've done it and then downgraded to 32bit ultimate until updates start rolling out for 64bit
I also get annoyed when I look at the task manager and see half the processes tagged as 32bit. You may also have to do special tweaks to get things running properly.
