Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question with an obvious answer, but can an Asus laptop's processor be upgraded? I have Intel Duo 2 Core and was wondering if I could upgrade to Quad, i5, or possibly i7. Thanks in advance.

Which model do you have? You cant upgrade from a Core 2 to i5/i7, but you could perhaps put in a C2Q, still we need the model to be sure.

You want a socket match chipset match in most cases and BIOS support especially when going from dual to quad. As asked what model? What CPU, what chipset.

Looks like you have a 45 series chipset yours runs @1066/mhz fsb. I do not know if that can run quad. I can tell you you will be going from a 25w TDP to a 45w TDP and that notebook is not known for a great cooling solution.

Hmm, okay then. In that case, I'll leave it be. Thank you for the help, though! ><

Eh, too pricey. It wouldn't be worth it. I might as well just buy a new computer if that's the case, lol. Thanks for pointing it out to me, however.

And it has 44w TDP vs 25w.
