I currently have the Asus G74s laptop, with 2nd generation i7-2630QM. I use it as a desktop computer, for software development, and audio processing. I feel I am missing out by not having a newer faster computer. I am looking into the Asus G752VT, which has i7-6700HQ CPU, DDR4 memory, PCIEG3x4 SSD drive, Windows 10. Will I see a big improvement in speed? Should I upgrade? Thank you.

It depends how much of the system you are using now. Simply adding an SSD may suit you for now.
