ALright i just picked up a Z84jp specs are as follows:
    Core Duo T2500
    2GB Crucial DDR667
    120Gb Hitachi 5400rpm drive
    Geforce Go 7700
    6 Cell Battery

    Heres the problem.

After putting together the laptop i tried to install windows xp pro service pack 2. After the setup was almost done the system hard locked and i had to reboot, same thing again, except sooner the 2nd time. This was with the laptop plugged into the wall I then decided to try running from the battery and see if the windows xp install would work, which it did.

So, now i have windows installed with all the correct drivers, some of the drivers were flakey but i got that sorted out. The system will lock up very quickly after getting into windows while the system is plugged into the wall.

When the laptop in running on battery power there are no problems at all the system runs just fine. Has anyone had similar problems or can give me an idea as to where to start to figure out this problem.

I have run memtest and don't have any errors, the temps are also in check cpu never goes about 50, and the gpu never goes above 60.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once again this problem only occuers when the notebook is plugged in, when on the battery its fine.

that's sounds like the most weirdest problem i've ever heard
    .

    first of all.

try to run with 1 stick of ram ( 1 of them might be bad even though you did memtest).

Secondly , download HDD testing tool for hitachi drive from http://btotech.com/store/support/downloads.htm

Test the HDD like what you did with memtest.

I don't understand what "lock up" you mean in here , is it mean restart with no reason?

What I mean by lock up is that the whole computer freezes and the only way to restart it, is o hold the power button down until the system turns off.

I have solved the problem, i had to enable the maximum cpuid value in the bios and the problem went away.
