I've flipped through my manual and did some searches on the forum, but I can't seem to find any clear, concise instructions on how to remove the optical drive from my V1JP. Tugging on it doesn't seem to do it and I'm loathe to try using more force--it would seem like it should slide out w/o too much effort.

One post had one person mention needing to undo a screw (which also strikes me as odd for a hot swappable device bay) and another person in the same thread stating they had no such screw.

    So any pointers?

Ha--never mind--the lock toggle on the bay is far from where I would have expected, sitting near dead center on the under panel of the machine.

Yah, when MysticGolem brought his V1JP to the store it puzzled me too, since the Hotswap is not suppose to have a screw to hold it in, just a lock mechanism. It seems that the Asus Service Center was puzzled when they saw his notebook to.

All other V1JP should not require a screw to remove it, just MysticGolem's V1JP.

Well, yah I have had my share of instances with my V1JP, LOL, but its all good, the more problems I face, the more I can contribute is terms of reviews/articles if you know what I mean. I am still awaiting for my Modular Bay Battery to arrive, maybe I will write something about that. School is keeping me busy.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem
