I have a V1JP and today I installed the new XP drivers dated XP 070208 from ASUS website.

Now windows says that I have 1024 Mb Hypermemory, have someone else noticed this?

I'm sure that I only have 256 Mb dedicated and 256 Mb Hypermemory so something is wrong.

    Probably just an error

It doesn't matter anyway, the X1700 can't really handle above 512 MB of RAM effectively. You won't see a boost in performance even if the hypermemory WAS boosted to 1 GB

tretjak, the V1JP has a X1700 which is 512mb, and what happens during gaming, on all laptops, is that system ram is being used up to help render and process the graphics.

Which means all graphics card do "hypermemory" but differently, for example, a highend desktop graphics card, like a 7900GT, will utilize its 256mb vram, and then start taking from the system ram, even though the card doesn't state it has "hypermemory". The more vram you have the less stuttering, the more system ram you have the less stuttering. That's why 2GB is a must for mid-range to highend gamers.

I would suggest installing Everest to getter a better understanding, or use futuremark and it will read out the details on the your computer.

The V1Jp with x1700 has 256MB of dedicated video RAM. With the old drivers it reported 512MB with hyper memory. With the new drivers it reports 1024MB with hyper memory. The latest driver was hacked to work with the x1700 so this is probably just a bug. Power management doesn't work properly with this driver either. I haven't noticed any performance difference nor do I expect to.
