Just wonder, is it possible to assign the button that by default start Asus Instant Fun to launch other software?
-
-
What, youre not having instant fun when you press it anymore?
-
Well a least you can launch IF, unlike me. When I push the IF button, windows starts, and Media Center launches.
-
um.... thats what instant fun is.
its not instant and its not fun. -
Omg, I cannot believe how stupid I am. Of course, once it needs an OS driver to be installed, it cannot work without the OS... I think I was somehow confusing it with audio DJ or similar stuff seen on other notebooks...
Anyway, since the application IF is installed, the button should launch IF instead of Media Center, right? I mean, this clearly is some kind of bug, isn't it? -
no thats what its doing, launching media center.
No it has no use. its not like audio dj on other notebooks. it launches media player and asus dvd for you. -
is there any way to reassign it at all? to maybe itunes?
-
Something strange, my InstantFun key doesn't even load ASUS DVD anymore... I removed the InstantFun software.
Might be possible to change it to something else *IF* we can find out whether that button works. The way I see it, it either works:
- by default and needs to be simply assigned by registry, or
- by hook, meaning the InstantFun program had something loaded which looks for that button press, then loads itself. -
Getting it to launch another application would be still better than this, though. -
when uninstalling instantfun it lounches Win Media Player, so it's possible to reasign it .. the question is how ..

I didn't realize a thread had already been started on this (I've just started another one). I've been looking into this, but I think the only way is to rewrite the HControl.exe program. I've tried to use AutoHotkey, but the button output signal seems to be at a lower level. I've found a modified version of HControl on a German site for the M6V (or something similar), but it won't work with the V1JP. I don't have the skills to rewrite the prog, but if anyone does that'd be amazing........
-
did anyone find a solution for this one?
-
My instantfun on A8JP XP starts.........well starts Windows XP. and then it does not go into any kind of media player thing.
-
-
hehe ...
but seriously, could there be a registry key or something similar .. -
the instant fun button doesnt work anymore after i reformatted my A8Sc notebook, nothing pulls up at all............... help!!!!
