Got my V1 from Justin just about a week ago and I love it. One question though: the right mouse button makes a click or tap sound before I click it for real. In other words, when my finger first hits it, I get a click, then when I press I get a second click (the actual mouse click). Basically, Im getting two audible clicks when I should be getting one.

I can cause this by just tapping slightly too... its actually pretty annoying. Anyone else have this issue and/or know how to solve it It doesn't happen on the left side...

    Thanks!

stop rght clicking then, get used to pressing "control>left click" using applemou.exe. http://www.geocities.com/pronto4u/applemou.zip. copy the exe file into your statup folder. NOW U CAN RIGHT CLICK WITHOUT GETTING ANNOYED

Uh thanks, but that's not at all what I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone has encountered this before and/or has a hardware fix. Thought I'd ask before cracking into the case myself (and thus probably voiding the warranty)

Mine doesn't do that. It sounds like you got a defective one. Whatever you do, DON'T open it. The V1Jp has a two year global warranty, so this SHOULD be covered by the warranty.

Heck, you're still within your first 30 days, so send it back to the retailer for a replacement. Generally ASUS will point you back to the retailer within the first 30 days of purchase if it's something they deem to be hardware.

Thanks Alex. I've sent a PM to Justin at ProPortable. We'll see what he suggests.

Thought I'd update this in case someone else has this issue.

Justin did get ahold of me and confirmed the buttons float over the actuators. He recommended I follow up with Asus and get this fixed under warranty. THAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM! I do NOT recommend you do what I did, as it may void your warranty.

I isolated the issue to the following: the buttons were rubbing the side of the case, near the bottom. I tried moving the buttons around and I could make the problem come and go doing this. But the natural resting spot on this particular install put the two surfaces into contact. When they rubbed, I got creaking and popping.

So, I went to my local hardware store and grabbed some graphite. Its dry and sticks once applied. I carefully applied it and worked it in and 2 days later the problem is still 100% gone. The buttons move so much smoother now, and no sound can be heard.

I may have to apply the stuff every so often, but I don't have a problem with that. As far as I'm concerned, this issue is no longer!

    Um, graphite is conductive.

Yep it is. But I needed a dry lubricant. Also in its powdered form, I've never found it to be a problem in and or on electrical components. And I used the tiniest of amounts.

Again, I encourage everyone to follow thru with Asus. But this worked for me.

Worst case he is going to ground out the mouse board, but I doubt he will.

Umm... don't tell ASUS that you did that.
