Ok, I am finally up and running after the machine crashed during a BIOS update. It took ASUS nearly two months, and all sorts of intrigue to replace the motherboard, but that's another story for another day...

For now, I have one small issue with the Fingerprint reader. In the "User's Fingerprint" dialog (where it shows all the fingerprint slots) when I click on "Next" I get the error message: "Error communicating with the BIOS..." Any ideas?

I have Vista Ultimate 32 running on the machine now. And, I have both the Protector Suite Software and Fingerprint PBA drivers installed.

    Try reinstalling the drivers?

Stupid question: is the device perhaps disabled in the BIOS? Or otherwise improperly configured?

I'm just proposing stuff, I don't have the machine nor have I used a fingerprint reader.

Nice avatar, btw :) (couldn't help it)

Yeah, the fingerprint reader might be disabled in the BIOS. Otherwise, maybe the fingerprint reader was expecting something from the BIOS that doesn't match anymore? Do you have the fingerprint reader set up to read from its own storage or use the TPM?
