I plan on purchasing a V1s. I would like to add a gig of memory, I'm just not sure what the right/best kind is.
When I go to crucial.com I get the following options for 2gb sticks:
DDR2 PC2-5300 CL=5 Unbuffered ECC DDR2-667 1.8V 256Meg x 72
DDR2 PC2-5300 CL=5 Registered ECC DDR2-667 1.8V 256Meg x 72
DDR2 PC2-5300 CL=5 Fully Buffered ECC DDR2-667 1.8V 256Meg x 72
Are any of these "right" if so, which is most right.
Also, if I purchase a new hard drive should I be able to throw any 2.5 inch drive in, right? I could then recover Vista from the CD to the new drive?
Will these changes have any impact on the warranty?
Thanks for any insight.

I'm pretty certain that changing ram and hard-drive does *not* affect the Asus warranty, and I think you should be able to recover Vista to the new drive.
Can't tell you which is the best ram to buy though. -
I don't know the exact answer off the top of my head, but it should be specified in the V1S user guide/manual on the Asus website.

, but I'd personally get the first one. The differences between them are in extra redundancy and backup, and you're unlikely to need that extra stuff unless you're using your notebook as a server. Also, the extra backup features cost more, so you're best off getting the first one based on price as well.
edit: actually, I just checked at Crucial.com and NONE of the ones you selected would work because NONE of them are SODIMM (notebook memory). They sell two 2GB notebook memory modules-
2GB CT25664AC667 DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64
and
2GB CT25664AC53E DDR2 PC2-4200 • CL=4 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-533 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64
of those 2, you'd want the first one, since it's running at the same speed as the memory that came with the V1S -
Thanks all!
