    Do they perform well in Vista (not the basic version)? multitasking e.g. music, MSN, photoshop or office etc... Know someone selling for cheap (unwanted prize)...

    1 GB is enough for Vista, but it will feel sluggish. Is it not possible that you could upgrade the RAM to 2 GB, as that is good enough size to keep Vista fast. Have a look at the RAM Deals, if you are in the US, as that page gives a lot of information and deals on current RAM.

    1GB will okay as long as you dont do heavy multitasking. My dad's on ultimatr with 1GB and it is long to boot (hibernation FTW) but it's okay after that, and NIS 2007 is installed
