I got my V2S in 2007 and have loved it. Used for both business (accounting, therapy billing and wordprocessing/email) and for personal (photos, email, Skyping with my granddaughter). The screen has developed a flicker and a changeover in color that looks kind of alike a shadow--with light cyan replacing white. However, there are places that white does appear. I'm taking it in to the computer doc this week. But it's my business lifeline and I'm getting edgy about needing a new comp.

Any ideas about a replacement for under $1000 or so? Thinkpads are looking interesting.....what kind of Asus would be a good match?
