How good would this system be for game performance.

I'm not a high end gamer at all, but I'd like to maybe get into a new MMO at some point.

Just curious what people think about this upcoming system?

Performance is only a tad behind the GDDR2 8600GT found in the new Inspirons, IFL90s, and V1S.

@Zydan...stop making all these threads please :p It's too tempting to answer every single one.
And what Bona Fide said, it's not too bad...but it's not too great either. It has half the stream processors of the GT which cripples it a bit, but it makes some of it up with higher clocks. Just keep in mind that on newer games, it might be hard to run high settings w/ high resolution. I'd say look to med-high settings w/ medium or low resolution for playable framerates.

Man it's so hard to choose a notebook.
Is the group buy still going on for this note book?
I looked at the thread but there was almost 40 pages and with a brief overview I couldn't tell.

    you can look at http://geared2play.com/phpbb/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1903
kind of a pre-order / group buy sort of thing.

and that group buy was for the V2s not the V1s

Since the GS has a higher clock than the GT yet fewer streams processors does that have any affect on the heat it will generate?

I feel like the GS may run hot, but thats just a guess....I just want to be able to put this thing on my lap without searing my legs.

Also any chance of unlocking more stream processors or something? I dont know much about video cards but I have heard that some may come off the same exact assembly line then just be limited by the manufacturer to a certain level. I would think that the GS is probably a totally different platform than the GT though. Any clarification would be appreciated

Sorry if im hijacking the thread.

you cannot unlock any more stream processors to my knowledge.

The GS shouldn't get too hot since it uses less power.

I've seen this posted around on many different threads but I haven't seen any official quotes, do you know whether there is official information saying that the V2S has GDDR3 ram? I'm getting interested to know for sure as I've already pre-ordered one :)

    Lot of different reasons, mainly:

    Big/Bulky
    Grainy Screen
    Headphone Jacknoise

I ordered the Dell 1520 before I wound this website, after that I found Asus and then the more I used my 1520 the more unhappy I was with it.
    So back it went!

    V1S here I come! :)

even having gddr3 doesn't guarantee anything unfortunately, we'll understand only when we see the stock memory clocks(for normal gddr3 it should be 700). F3sv supposedly has GDDR3(some say it's DDR2 and it's just rivatuner reporting it wrong) but it's clocked at 400 -> very bad gaming performance

Hi, I'm new in this forum...

I'm also thinking in buying the Asus V2S (V2S - 4S023E) , but the version that is available in my country (Portugal) is a bit better... It has a Nvidia 8600GT with 512Mb (I don't no if it is GDDR2 or GDDR3), and a Intel Core 2 Duo 7500 (2.20GHz) processor.

Basically it has the same specifications of the V1S available in Portugal (V1S - AS004E), but has a smaller 14,1'' display.

Does someone no another country, maibe also in Europe that has the same version of V2S (V2S - 4S023E) ??? I'm searching for a review of it...
