I noticed the recovery cd offers no way to get drivers off it after a clean install of windows. Is my only option to get these drivers, download them and burn them to cd on another computer, and install them on my laptop? Find it odd that the only cd given on purchase with the V6J is a recovery cd, and no way of accessing drivers on the cd.

I notice these under Other Devices:

    Base System Device x3
    Ethernet Controller
Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
    Unknown device

Not sure what the base system device or unknown device is.

I don't have the stuff with me right now, but I know it can be done, and it was relatively painless to do an install. Look in the manuals, which are also available online.

Where did you purchase your V6J from? I know that my V6J came with a drivers CD and when I use the Windows recovery CD, all I have to do is pop in the driver disc when it asks and let it go.

The V6J comes with 2 recovery CDs (OS image) and 1 driver CD (black)

While POST (after start), press F9 and this is same instalation like from CD (from hidden partition).
Warning to default FAT32 partition. For better performance, convert your partition(s) after base windows instalation to NTFS and with some tools (AcronisDiskDirector, PartitionMagic is bugy) convert 'Cluster Size' from 512bytes to 4096bytes.
