    Hi all,

I have problem with my V6J. If I plug my headpohones Koss PortaPro, then sound in headphones is without normal bass. If I increment Bass in EQ (iTunes or Windows Media Player) to max, then sound is not good (I don't know word for this status, sound is over range, slovak word is 'prevaleny').
Then I plug this same headphones to desktop PC or other Notebook (Fujitsu Siemens AmiloPro V1000, absolute lowend notebook), same iTunes but without EQ (flat) and same song and sound is normal, with bass and trebles, totally better than V6J with added bass.
My V6J not have bass in headphones output.
In dealer page wroted, "Built-in AC'97 compliant audio chip, with 3D effect & full duplex", but I can't find any settings about 3D or other audio settings, I have only standard classical windows audio settings.
Can anybody confirm this my problem? Or solution?

BTW, my V6J have in this time 1 brightness pixel, 9 dark or semidark pixels (this is second LCD, first have 13 semi dark pixels), whistle in run on battery mode (muted when cpu loaded, e.g. Scorll in Borwser silent whistle). Now I waiting for new LCD, after arriving I send my Super V6J to service.

I love design of this notebook, but this specific piece (maybe for Slovak or Czech market) is very bad.

    Thanks.

    PS: sorry of my english

I know that the V6j is a little lacking in the bass department, but I think that you might be exagerating a little bit. I play music for about 4 hours a day on my V6j from my speakers (external) and they sound better on this than on any other computer. The sound chip is pretty nice, its by SoundMax by the way. I know there are some advanced settings in the DVD program that came on my computer, and they sound pretty good. I would say that you might try using a different program, or maybe even a nice sound enhancement program.

Thank for answer, but headphones output is absolute without bass (my model). And if I want add bass, something on way from source (iTunes, WMP) to output (headphone whole) clipping low frequencies. This is not acceptable for my, trebles are excelent, but basses is absolute poor.
I have now 4 computers (2 desktops, 2 NB), but only my expensive V6J have absolute poor bass.

Hmm... if you have normal sound when no headphones are plugged in, but poor sound WITH headphones...then something is faulty.
I would get it replaced (or at least request that it be checked out) if I were you.

    - without headphones is normal sound,
    - with plugged headphones is normal sound, but without bass. Bass are filtered.
Koss Porta Pro have little bass sound. This is not my opinion, this is opinion of PortaPro owners. But with my V6J I hear little bass only if I add bass sliders on EQ near to max. And basses are 'overloaded'.
On LowEnd AmiloPro V1000, EQ=flat, basses on PortaPro are very good, as all other sound devices. If I add bass to absolute max on AmiloPro V1000, sound is very bassed (PortaPro have very high range), but not overloaded.
Overloading on my V6J generated on V6J, not in PortaPro or iTunes or Windows Media Player.
I hope, when this is correctable error only on my notebook. As I wrote on first post, I waiting to new LCD and after this I send my Notebook to service.

Stupid suggestion: did you try other headphones? I didn't hear about the brand of headphones you are using but maybe they're a bit off the standard and don't make contact properly.

Second, and slightly offtopic maybe, does anyone have a link to some thread / website that explains how to search for bright / dark pixels? My 30 days will soon expire... Haven't noticed anything funny while running the notebook normally...

Yes, I testing other noname headphones, normal bass on other computers, no bass on V6j.

Download nokia test utility and test LCD for all colors, black, white, reg, green, blue. Second button line, 4. icon from left.

thanks for reminding me of the nokia tester! Good ol' Nokia tester, how could I forget it...

Well, been staring for fifteen minutes at my screen and I'm already seeing double, but I found no strange pixels of any kind. I'm telling you though, it's very difficult to remove all the dirt of size comparable to an SXGA+ pixel from an LCD screen...
