    Hi All
This is my very first post here at notebookreview.com after having discovered the site a week ago.

After 4 years of happy life with my Fujitsu C2210, I am in need of a new notebook because my current laptop is too slow and the fan is making noise and Fujitsu wants $300.00 to get it fixed. Never the less I love my Fujitsu and planning to keep it.

I looked around the net for laptop and came across the Asus brand after going trough Sony, Toshiba, Fujitsu and Lenovo (IBM). None of the above manufacturers have the power and the design I am looking for. Like million others, I too knew Asus as a brand for motherboard and nothing more; But now I know their laptops are beautiful and according to descriptions, powerful as well. I am having my eyes on V6J and W3J but since V1J is coming out and seems to be an improved V6J (wide screen, fingerprint reader and webcam) I want to know if anyone know when it would be released and for how much. I can't wait till 2007, so do you think the V1J with Core 2 Due (Memron) would be available for around $1900-$2000 in a month or two? Of course I live in the United States.

And can you elabotrate on V6J and W3J. Since I have seen niether, I wanted to know if V6J screen is glossy like the ones of Sony and W3J. I know it says colorshine but is that what it menas.

Thanks, but there are not much regarding real comparison of W3J and V6J screen quality; since one say colorshine only but W3J if colorshine and something else, and that led me to believe that the quality of W3J is better than V6J, beside it's graininess.
But as people mentioned V1J should be released for September or October of this year with Core 2 Due. I think Core 2 Due has already been released for sale by Intel! Correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks a million

If you want your computer now, but V6J if you can find it in stock. Otherwise wait for V1J. According to ProPortable in one of gazzilion thread about V1J, we will not see it in the US until late October.

Screen quality won't matter. Compared to your Fujitsu, it'll be better and you'll be happy. Unless you're like me and Coriolis who got spoiled by V6Va screen.

That is correct. In fact, you can order Merom based Asus notebooks through some vendors. It voids the warranty on the Ensemble units but drops some serious power into the notebook!

its not slated to come out this month so no. In fact noone has even gotten word that it is even due to come out in NA ever.

i'm not waiting indefinately. i found a great deal on a v6j. if v1j comes out here then maybe i can get that too instead of upgrading the v6j to merom.

was thinking of importing from one of the few countries hat has stock v1j with merom, like Poland, Spain, Switzerland, here is a few.

while the Uk , Gemany and other have the yonah version.

i think its just going to be too expensive to import with the poor conversion rate. Actually i think our dollar should at least still be stronger then the Polish currency so that could work if they actually ship and you can get a dealer that speaks english and/or can set up an english order form site.

prob going to be too much trouble, risk and expense so i guess i ll just order my v6j

    W3J-(1280 x 768) - 14" Widescreen
    V6J-15" SXGA+ (1400 x 1050)

As has been said, they are both glossy...comparing the screens, the V6J has a little more real estate as well as a higher resolution.

14" also have a less forgiving viewing angles...I find that the 14" looks great right on, but if you're not looking straight on to the screen, the quality degrades noticably.

I have a W3J and love it for the form factor and graphical muscle...the screen is good enough to not detract from the overall package.

If you can wait though, do - the V1J sounds like a sweet machine.

I would buy a v1j from europe and pay shipping before I would get a v6j personally.

I have had a V6J since April of this year and love it. I bought it specifically for running Vista which I am (latest release RC2) and it runs it great.

If you have specific questions PM me and I will respond. If you are in L.A. you are welcome to come over and see it in person.

    Hit me back.

why, what could possibly be so much better to pay almost double.

as much as i'm wondering why i maybe didn't get a sony, i'm def glad i didn't import a v1j. plus if i get a W2P or similiar sony later that combined with the v6j will be better then just a v1j and not much more for the 2 domestically then importing the one.
