Used the cds that came with the v6j, and then used the drivers cd. Now I have 5 USB Root Hub with yellow ? in my device manager. I try searching the v6j driver cd but it doesn't find anything. Anyone know what or where the drivers are for this? I have 5 Intel controllers listed above them under the USB in device manager.

    Help please.

Issue 2, for some reason, my buttons no longer function (ie to turn on/off wireless network, change the power mode, turn bluetooth on/off), the buttons don't work.

Your USB drivers load natively with Windows XP, not your drivers CD. So, disconnect all USB devices, reboot to SAFE mode and uninstall the drivers in Device Manager and then reboot.

Let us know if that resolves it for you.

Thanks. The USB driver seems to detect BT-183 Bluetooth 2.0, but it has problems installing the driver off the cd, any suggestions?

Seems like the yellow ! are gone now in the control panel.
I installed this driver above, rebooted, and now notice under batteries, Microsoft AC Adapter, Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.

The buttons still do not function as per the original post. Other suggestions?

Does anyone have a link to the CD drivers for the V6j, I looked both on the CD and online and can't find them, my CD drive stopped working one day and I could only make it start working with the most basic windows driver. Thanks.

CD drivers are also loaded natively by Windows. Follow the instructions above for the USB driver uninstall and reinstall.

If you are looking for the burning and DVD viewing software, you have specific CDs for that...don't look on your basic drivers CD because it is not there. Carefully review all of the CDs that came with your V6J and you will find them.

Paladin44, thanks for the response, but thats what I did originally and that doens't work. To get it to work the first time I had to do some registry editing. I can't do anything with a blank disk. I so far can read CDs and DVDs, nothing else. Thanks though. I might work on a solution for a while, and see what I can find.

Here's what I found in my situation: I can still burn CDs from Nero (the standard version that came installed), but Windows Media Player won't allow me to burn (wants me to connect a burner) and I can't use "send to" to send files to a CD from windows? How do I fix this?

If that doesnt work. Try ripping nero off the pc. I think there used to be an option forgot what it was. But a part of nero you could install to write files right to cd or something that would disable the windows direct cd writing.

Well, I tried SRDs tricks and they didn't work, but then I decided to try the Safe Mode trick again, and it did. The burner seems to be recognized properly. Thanks for the help.

What safe mode trick are you talking about for future reference? you mean you just booted to safe mode and it works there or do you have to do something within it?

Gizbug, where did you get the wifi drivers from? intel website or from the asus one. Because not sure if its still and issue with the new wifi chipset. but when you would download the intel 2915 wifi drivers from the intel site. The drivers would disable the ATK driver for the hard bottons on asus laptops. so are you using the asus wifi driver?

Intel does have the latest drivers. But from some reason with the 2915 chip u have the new one but anyway. asus had an issue with their atk driver that the intel ones would disable it. So uninstall the intel driver and the atk driver. reinstall the asus wifi driver. reboot then install the atk driver. good luck.

no need. i think my solution will work. if this is the problem. Asus really needs to fix their driver issue. Because its disapointing you cant use the parts manufacturers latest driver sets. poor programing on asus part.

    SRD,

I booted to safe mode and then unistalled the CD drive, then rebooted normally. I had done that before and it didn't work, but for some odd reason, it did this time.

I set up the stack, yes. One thing that I noticed is different now than when i got it with the os installed is, I have 2 bluetooth items on the taskbar. One is "Wireless Console 2 - ON BLUETOOTH" and the other "Bluetooth Manager"
