This has gotta be a fraud...

probably is fraud. But if you pay with a credit card through paypal even if it is fraid its easy to dispute the charges and get your money back. Credit cards are very helpful when it comes to fraud. I bought a ps2 on ebay when they first came out payed like 600 for it and the guy never sent one. My CC company helped me right out.
-
Changed the processor - which means zero warranty.
-
This guy has no feedback either.
-
-
Hmm.. could it be stolen goods, hence so cheap?
If fraud though, why would he accept Paypal? -
He would probably contact you and ask you to send the money via western union, claiming to have problems with paypal...Western Union doesn't have fraud protection.
-
Someone should report him.
-
He will probabily do this: Accept paypal, send the money he gets from you to another account, lock his current (fraud) paypal account before you attempt to get u r money back.
-
I e-mailed the guy and asked how he could sell the notebooks at that too good to be true price. Here's his response:
"hi, i buy from a wholesaler overseas, they are all authentic real thing and they are brand new sealed in box with 12 month manufacturers warranty, ? Model Asus V6J "
Seems trustworthy to me... NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

I still agree It's too good to be true and probably fraud...but don't count it as fraud just based on the specs...Other Country's actually offer varrying specs on ensemble models, I'm not saying this is one of those cases...all I'm saying is it's not impossible.

)
I e-mailed him the following:
But don't worry anyone... if I go down on this, I go down alone... LOL -
I think this could be easily proven if we ask him/her (aren't we stereotyping here?
) to provide photos of the 10 notebooks he has, with BIOS info, hardware pics etc etc....
-
I really am tempted since my Credit card company will cover me if there is fraud.
-
SRD: Ask him to take pics for u, at least it'll reduce the risk of it being a fraud.
-
I did ill see if he responds. I told him to take pics of even just the box if he doesnt want to open it.
-
Me too.
1000 dollars is nothig considering that similar sellers have it for 2000.
They might be stolen. Who knows.
Asus is pretty common in Europe. -

Here is the problem you face:
If the seller sends you a brick in the box and you sign for it you have a problem. Now more often then not if you use cc or paypal and the vendor is new and you claim fraud the creditor will tend to side on the buyers side but there is no guarantee. Dont buy from ebay vendors with rating 0 unless its a cheap item. This is not a cheap item and the only way he is selling it this way is if it fell off the back of a truck all modified. He sure as hell dont have 10 of them on hand. His responce resembles that of all the other requsts i see to mail to "my cousin" overseas for his birthday. The only way you should even contemplate buying is if you email him and pretend your are in his state and want to pick it . See what he says. His responce will most likely be "sorry we have a warehous not allow pickup" Or something else made up. -
Umm I cant believe you guys are actually trying to buy this.
If you believe this guy, you deserve to get your money stolen, and never get it back.
The seller has wrong specs, a ridiculous price, no feedback, no store info (no address/phone number), other items being sold are at the same low prices, no real pictures, etc.
Please dont be naieve, ive learned my lesson in the past, and I can promise you that this is not worth a minute of your time. -
Unless the seller is a verified user, paypal will offer no fraud protection what so ever. Paypal's fraud protection is a complete joke, you should read the terms.
I think people who use their CC's in these circumstances are abusing the system a bit. I think CC company's provide fraud protection to people who bought items in good faith and recieved an item of lesser value. (counterfeit, stolen, etc) I don't think the intent of the protection is for the card holder to purposely purchase items from a shady business and knowing the card company will reimburse if they get ripped off. Just my 2 cents. -
Well, I got an e-mail back from e-bay and the person who wrote basically said if I thought it was stolen I should go to the police and they provided me a link to a website that was to give me info of everythign i need. I did not check out the web site. She also said she passed the info on to their counterfeit department.
I wrote back and said that I really did not want to get involved, I was forwarding this info to them as a courtesy, that I expected them to take care of their own site. And then I re-iterated that it might be the case that the guy (and yes, for some reason, it feels like a guy) may not have any idea that there is a problem as his explanations suggest that he does not know much about computers.
Oh, well, someone is going to get stuck with something or without something. -
I dont see why anyone is reporting him.. you are saying he is guilty before he commits a crime. It probably is a scam, but its not impossible that it is legit, it wouldent be the first time i have seen a good laptop cheap. I think whoever buys it should deal with it, no sense just taking up reporting people because you *think* its a fraud. I have had people with 0 or - feedback bid on things i am selling, for a lot of money and pay. I have also bought things (mp3 players in particular) for what seems a complete deal at hundreds cheaper brand new than in a store, recieved them, and verified they were legal.
Best bet is to ask for pics, and more info, if you dont like how its sounding stay away.. Until then lets not go screaming witch and burning the village before we know. -

Its sad too, because the V6j is such a nice computer. Why can't he be fradulant with something like a dell (don't jump on my case for this, replace it with whatever brand you don't like), where they suck anyway?
-
I have to agree with the guy who said someone should ask to view the items, and see what he/she says. perhaps ask him if you could buy all 10
insane -
I contacted the guy asking for pictures. He asked for my email and said will send some... we'll see...
-
huahahha... I got 3 pictures from him....
1. Blurry pic of some ASUS... no way to id which one
2. Pic of HP notebook Lance Armstrong special edition (I know this because I was looking at this model too)
3. Pic of box... says A3 ....
If you're gonna be a scam artist... at least do it right.. send the right pictures.... dang... just so stupid ...
PM me if you want to see the email, I'll forward it to you. -
Looks like our friend has felt too much pressure and fled eBay. His listing of V6Va notebooks at $995 is long gone.
-
and if they found a problem with the seller, they would ban the seller.
If you notice, not only is the ASUS gone, but also all the other seller's products and the seller himself is no longer a registered user.
