Asus tech support doesn't seem to have a solution for my issue. I can't get wired LAN connection using the Marvell Yukon Gigbit Ethernet port (wireless works fine). I updated the driver, checked the cable, the router, used another laptop to check connection to Internet (worked), but nothing seems to resolve this issue. I keep getting a balloon saying "network cable unplugged."

Anyone else have this issue? Just wondering if anyone has any input before I ship it to Asus for repair ...

    Thanks.

That's wierd.... try to disable it and re-enable it....

.... sometimes something like spyware or a virus can get in your system and do something just like this..... it's almost one of those things that just doing a format would be quicker and more painless.... especially before you take the time to send it in.

Thanks for the suggestion Justin, forgot to mention that I already tried that ...

I going to run a complete virus, adware and spyware scan and see what happens.

Sometimes a driver can get corrupted and uninstalling it and reinstalling it isn't good enough... did you try a system restore to before the problem started? That would be easier than formatting and really is the step inbetween...

Again, good suggestion. After a thorough scan, no go. Reinstalled driver from orginal driver disc, no go.

The trouble is I can't remember when it really worked at all since I've been wireless from day one. So system restore is not an option.

All else have failed, researched exhaustively on the Internet, tried everything, I'm concluding that it's a hardware issue.

    Off to ASUS!!!

Ok, well you did almost everything I said......... now do a full format, seriously. Because in the end if that is the problem, that's what Asus is going to have to do, but you're not going to have time to back up your stuff....... format it and try it. If that doesn't work, you can tell Asus everything you did and then they'll actually have it for less time.... but you can back your stuff up now and check it. If it works, then you saved yourself shipping and a week without your computer.
