I haven't used my notebook over the summer, but now that I'm in school I've noticed the battery life is worse than it was before. Max charge is showing about 66% of the original battery. Worse still, I used it for about 45 minutes, taking the battery from 95% to 60%. When I turned it on later, it was down to 5%!

It has taken 3 hours to charge up to 72%, so I'm thinking the battery is nearing the end of its life. Any thoughts? Where can I find a replacement for it?

I had a V6V and I had to replace the battery once because of inconsistent reading, and the motherboard once because the battery didn't charge and it's always in low battery (incorrect battery reading) even when plugged in.

It's hard to judge from your problem, how long have you had the notebook for?

Yeah, it might be the battery is just dying. Not much of a surprise, after 2 years...

There are basically two options: try to find (A) an original battery, or (B) a 3rd party one.

Depending on how long ago ASUS stopped producing original batteries, they may be significantly worn just from sitting on the shelf. In which case, B would be better. The disadvantage of B (3rd party batt) is that they sometimes have incompatibilities with the mainboard -- ranging from annoying to severe...

That being said, here is option A: http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=2709

EStore only ships to US and Canada.

Hm, I'd need someone in Canada. At least I have a part # to look for.

Edit - whoops, missed that you said they ship to Canada. Ordered one!

Got it today, and it's showing 100% capacity. Great!
