    Hello guys!

I´m a Swedish (excuse my bad English) guy who very soon are going to buy a new notebook. Because of this I would like to have some help to decide whitch one to buy. These are my alternativs (the specifikations is according to the models available in Sweden):

    Asus V6Va

(modelnumber in Sweden: V6882VAMP?, pleas correct me if this model is not similar with the V6Va, here is a link with information about V6882VAMP: http://www.westium.com/datablad/asus/asus_v6v.pdf).

    Spec: Pentium M 760 (2,00 Ghz) / 512 MB RAM / 60 GB 5400 rpm / DVD +/- RW / ATI X700 128 MB / Win XP Pro

    Price: ca 2 540 USD

Review: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1224226 (even if not the same spec. as mine)

    Asus V6J

Spec: YON Intel Core Duo 1,83 Ghz / 1024 MB RAM / 80 GB 5400 rpm / DVD +/- RW / NVIDIA Geforce Go 7400 TurboCache 128 MB (max 256 MB) / Win XP Pro

Price: ca 2 540 USD (same as the V6Va)

Reviews: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/83667/asus-v6j.html (this is a very "shallow" review, and I think its obvius that the author doesn´t like ASUS) and http://www.cnet.com.au/mobilecomputing/notebooks/0,39029089,40060374,00.htm (here are 3DMark06 score presented - does anyone know howe to compare this score with 3DMark05 scores?) and http://www.kieskeurig.nl/review/228B42D356AFA7DAC125710700461391.htm (if you can read Dutch)

Benchmarks (V6Va and V6J): http://www.notebookforum.ca/phpbb2/docs/Benchmark.htm#V6J (is the 3DMark05 score presented here trustworthy? I´m asking because the scores is presentet by an ASUS-seller)

    My needs

I´m not very intrested in playing games (even if it´s fun to do that some times).

I do a lot of photo-editing and GIS-work, which include viewing large ortophotos (up to 350 MB). I would also like to do some 3D-GIS visualitation. I often run several program at once (ArcView, Excel, World, Explorer etc.).

I dont like "glossy" screens (does the IPS-screen on the V6Va only comes in a glossy version?).

I have red almost all the threads in the ASUS section, but I still have problems decide whitch one to buy, so please help me.

Best regards (and again - excuse my very bad english!)

If you dont like glossy then your probably out of luck. The US versions are only glossy. and if your doing PS work wouldnt you want the more accurate colors of a glossy IPS screen?

Remember that their V6va may not have the IPS, it does not state it in the Westium spec sheet.

But in your case, the Core Duo would help alot in such PhotoShop areas.

Both are glossy, 'glare' type so that's a bummer for you I guess :(

Yep, since you like to run multiple programs etc I would go the 'J'....it should provide you with the best performance for your specific needs.

i'd get the v6j over the v6va because of the power the duo will out perform the older chip. Thats what im waiting for here in the states.

If I´m not wrong the Swedish versions are matte. The screen-type is named "color shine", and that´s not the same as glossy. I´m not to advanced in PS, even if I use it a lot for cutting and resizing images. I don´t like reflecting light on the screen because I think it will make my eyes (and head) tired.

I don´t realy understand if the screen on V6J is glossy or not. It has the "color shine" screen, but thats not the same as glossy (?). See this review (from Australia) witch explicit says that the screen is matte: http://www.cnet.com.au/mobilecomputing/notebooks/0,39029089,40060374,00.htm
