Looking for new notebook. I was leaning to the V6j, but like the 15.4 screen of the Z96j. Looking for a light stylish notebook with a 15 - 15.4" screen. Any suggestions? How do these 2 notebooks compare? Should I wait for the Z96j or buy the V6j now? Any help would be appreciated.

The cost difference will be there, and the V6 is obviously alot more stylish and built then the more affordable but powerful Z96j. So its really hard to compare really.

What do you plan on doing with it...what's most important to you?

The V6j has the looks, is lighter, has higher quality materials (brushed aluminum, carbon fiber compound chassis I believe). The screen is also better (higher res - ZBD warranty) and it has an Asus direct warranty.

The Z96j has a more powerful graphics card (important only if you're playing new high spec games, video editing or using heavy dev tools) and the wide aspect screen. It can also be customized meaning you can make it more powerful than the V6j but the costs will also be up there. The warranty will be through the retailer.

if you don't feel like waiting for the z96j, you can always purchase the s96j. you can get it with the wsxga resolution at powernotebooks.com (glossy...but must wait until 6/7) or geared2play.com (matte).

Thanks for the info. I do occasional gaming, but use photoshop elements regularly. I am looking to create a work website and occasionally might view a dvd movie. $2500 is my price ceiling. I like the notebook to be thin and light and love the way the Apple powerbook looks.

I don't want to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, but in my opinion you are comparing Apples and onions...no pun intended...

Animals and groceries aside, if you are talking about getting something stilish AND you like the looks of the macbook, neither the Z96j nor V6j will do it. But that's my opinion...they do have great specs, but the looks...

In that respect, depending on how urgently you need it, I would consider waiting to see the V1J. I believe it might be coming sometime around summer, or maybe Q3. It has great specs, 15.4" screen and some looks ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=44286). Search the forum and you will find other pics/references.

As I said, that's my opinion. Unfortunately I don't think ASUS has a "good looking" Core Duo 15.4" in the market at the moment.

    All the best!

    Its true, the Z96j/S96j isn't a looker. :p
