I haven't kept up if there was ever a software fix for the battery issue of the V1JP (essentially being completely dead in a year), but I picked up a new battery and the computer runs for a couple hours...

However, I run in to 2 issues:

    1. As soon as I switch to battery, I get a warning message that my battery is low, even if it clearly shows over 1:50 left of use.

    2. After about 10 minutes of being on battery, the computer forces a sleep. Once I wake it up, its fine. But I could be typing, surfing, watching a video, then the screen goes dark but I can still hear sound. I have to wait for it to completely go to sleep before I can wake it up.

Buggy battery firmware... it has all kind of weird effects, especially as the battery is getting older.

I got a new battery last year and haven't had any real issues since.

My original battery had a problem where at 40% it would inexplicably drop down to 10% and I'd get 4% wear when I recharged it completely.

This new one I have here doesn't seem to do it, and while I get a bit of wear when I recharge it, it's nowhere near as bad and it seems to self-reset after a charge or two.

In any case, if this new battery is also having issues, I would say send it back.

Yeah, there've been reports of newer batteries that work (they have a different serial number and labeled "V1S" instead of "V1J", I think).

I should add that the computer does run for a couple hours on battery, but it seems to think even at 2 hours, its low. Thats not as bad as when it goes in to standby after 10 minutes.
