I have a V6J which motherboard is dmged some how that it can't turn on. (It just flashes the orange battery indicator) It charges from battery and i am thinking the only way to repair it is if i found out how my self or have to replace the motherboard. The vx1 motherboard is cheaper than the V6j by 25$. Could i possibly replace my v6j motherboard with this? And i also hope that the battery wear problem doesn't affect the vx1 mobo too

In short, no. It probably won't fit physically, and even if you got that far it might be that the heatsink and other components might not be compatible.

This isn't like a desktop PC. The pieces are not made or designed to be interchangeable to that degree.

My first thought was the changes to the graphics card might use a slightly different cooling system. One of the resellers should know more about this.

i took apart my v6j today and it seems that there is a removable piece for the DC connector, maybe this is causing the continual battery indicator blinking?

If the 25$ price difference worries you, I'd get the V6J motherboard and install it.

The batt wear is probably caused at least partly by batt firmware.

Hello, I have the exact same problem with a vj6 i got, orange lights, batt charging nothing else. Buckshot could you tell me if replacing the mobo actually fixed it in your case? I haven't checked it out more fully but it could be stuck in hibernation mode or something related like a messed up reed switch when u open and close the case? Maybe batt fault? I had an old acer that would beep out a code and didn't fire up properly when the ram was in the wrong port for instance.

I opened it up but gave up looking for broken off smd components when my vision became somewhat blurry. I' ll be having another look when i get more time.

I might guess that there is something going bad in the interaction between the battery and the motherboard (we all know the firmware is not written quite right), and when things go really bad it might completely mess up the motherboard.

I would guess that replacing the motherboard should work, provided you don't try to use it in combination with the same battery. But don't bet 300 USD on that.

Could you list the signs that your computer gave before breaking down completely, so that we, the other V6 users, are on the lookout?
