I just got this email. Just to inform Vancouver based people that we can view new Asus stuff! Unfortunately, I can't make it because I'm working tomorrow.
Anyway, to whoever will go have fun!
-
I got that email too from Frontier.
But I live in Toronto
And it was kinda of a late announcement, a week ahead would of been alot more helpful. -
yeah I know. They would've known that they would have this showing at least a month ahead of schedule right? Oh well, it's just out there for anyone interested to go.
(I wonder if they're going to have the z70va on display? Hmm..) -
I would go... except I have too much to do tomorrow. What a shame... if I had known about this at least a couple of more days ago, I would go.
Instead, I'll be packing and getting ready for my vacation -
Eh? Where ya heading to?
-
Nothing too spectacular... just a 9-day bus tour of the states. (California, Reno/Las Vegas... and everything leading up to it)
But considering that I've never even LEFT BRITISH COLUMBIA before, it'll be something exciting -
Haha nice
Before April 2 years ago, I've never set foot out of Canada and the furthest I've ever been was Montreal(beautiful place by the way), but my first trip was to New York City - and it was unbelievable. I mean, TV shows NOTHING compared to going there yourself!
Have fun, it'll be a blast -
Thanks coriolis.
The good thing is that I'll have my trusty ol' M6Ne with me at the hotels... and I believe they all have internet access.
Have you been to any ASUS demos in Toronto? -
There was one here a few weeks back at CanadaSys.
Nicely displayed, had quite a time feeling up every laptop
But they didn't have the v6v which was disappointing.
The w5a is a really nice laptop, its really rigid, slim, sexy and is pretty fast. -
It looks like a nice computer...but I've seen the Dell 700m before, and if the size is anything like that, then the W5a just isn't for me.
I think my sweet spot is 14"... I'm having a hard time choosing between the Z63a and the IBM T42
EDIT: Sorry primetime for taking over your thread and turning it into a personal conversation... -
I'll rep primetime and hopes he won't mind LOL
Yea, 14.1" is good, but I think something small would be great. I AM coming from a 15" CRT haha...
The 1680x1050 resolution is CRAZY!
The most I can handle is 1200x800 haha.
I'm probrably gonna get a 15.4"(Can't decide between z70v/lg lw60) for my main computer, then get the w5a for my lil sis, she's entering college soon, mind as well get one for her(Parents will probrably pay for hers...boo!!) so I can play around and tinker with it until i get bored and give it to her LOL! -
So you don't even have a notebook right now
I'm sure you've heard this mumbo jumbo before...but LGs are pretty solid machines. Personally, I prefer the style of the ASUS machines... the Z70v is hella sexy, but you can't go wrong with LG either.
However, if I were to do it all over again, I'd go with IBM... because I just LOVE their keyboards. ASUS is all eyecandy...but I type a lot
Go with ASUS :asus: -
I have a ThinkPad t21 right now.
I'm not currently using it as it serves as a IRC fserve
I like the ThinkPad keyboards, pretty solid, the z70v is similiar but not as.....how to say it...crisp? I don't know but there definately is a difference.
And yea, the z70v is nice, I really liked the m6bne. But the LW60 just has so many perks - I'm a sucker for perks -
That's cool.
Enjoy your trip! -
Thanks primetime.
Yeah... the Z70v certainly is a sexy beast... the M6BNe was a great machine. Too bad I've never been too much of a widescreen fan...(hence why I purchased the M6Ne instead). They keyboard isn't as solid as an IBM keyboard for sure...but it's definitely not bad in any sense.
What kind of "perks" come with the LG model you're thinking about? -
Smaller screen resolution, 1280x800 - I can't handle anything bigger, but I suppose you can change the resolution, but its not native, but it still should be fine for the ASUS?
Remote control. It's pretty sweet
Full keyboard - I've honestly almost never use the 1-0 numbers above the qwerty keyboard except on my Thinkpad.
It's gonna cost me a bit over $2000 after taxes, about the same price of a similiarly spec'd z70v(although processor is 1.7 compared to 2.0, ram doubled from 512 ->1gb, but no OS)
I was always careful with where I use my money - you do not want to ever shop with me, my indecisiveness is pretty annoying.
