I bought an Asus z63a last Monday, and am now regretting not spending the extra $$ on a DVD burner. At the time I thought it was unnecessary, but I'm greedy and want possibilities open to me. When I can save up the dough (and after I buy more RAM), is there an external DVD burner anyone can recommend? Or is there a way to upgrade the optical drive (I thought I'd read somewhere that it wasn't possible)?

Also, the z63a is not listed on crucial.com. Could someone reply with the specific info needed to buy a sitck of 512 MB RAM? (or 1GB, if I'm feeling wealthy one day).

Well, thats a tough one. Almost no one seems to be buying the combo drives anymore as for about $60 you can burn almost 12 times the data. But when you make a choice you have to live with it I guess. You can get 16x externals for pretty cheap. Plextor, Sony have some decent priced, good looking drives.

You're not going to see it posted on there... you *may* see the W3v or W3a (the "a" is the Z63a). You want ddr3 533 / 200pin so-dimm.... that's as simply as I can put it. I'd suggest Corsair or even Kingston.

I recommend going to Newegg and picking up some Kingston ram. I got 512 for $60 shipped and it works just fine, dual channel and stuff.
