Greetings - I finally received my 1000H today - and its a keeper! I booted it immediately and only had to un-install the anti-spyware, Office 2007 stuff and Windows Live junk. I had a spare Samsung 160-Gb SATA drive so I decided to swap drives, keeping the original drive as a backup. I followed instructions that I found here somewhere on NBR: disconnect your SATA drive from your desktop and connect the laptop drive to the same connections. Boot from the ASUS Restore DVD on the desktop and let it install. Shutdown and disconnect when finished and swap the new drive with the original in the system.

The whole process was very smooth - Asus uses Ghost 11 on the DVD BTW. I was tickled to find that the Restore DVD does not include any anti-virus. I am also very impressed with the build quality and hardware quality of the system. The HDD was easy to swap out and the interior of the system is easy to access. And, I did not have to tear any seals to access the HDD. Overall I am very pleased with this system - it boots fast, runs very well and I(hopefully) should have very good battery life.

I love and miss my 1000 EEE with SSD. It's the perfect size not too big not too small.

Unfortunately mine had a problem - it froze everytime I plugged it in to the power it froze. I became worried of hardware problems and returned it.

At the same time my desktop PC failed so I realized I needed a replacement. So ultimately, I decided to get a laptop that could fully replace my desktop. If it wasn't for the HDMI out and optical drive I would have stuck with the EEE but I went for the g50V to replace my desktop.

In a perfect world I would buy a full desktop and a 1000 EEE but unfortunately I do not have the funding for that right now.

Enjoy it, it's a great machine!
