    Hello, my question is are vibrations bad for my laptop's LCD display?

    Nope, vibration only affects the parts that contain motors (i.e. hard drives, fans etc.)

    A friend who is a computer consultant has one client that is a helicopter pilot and takes his laptop with him when he flies is on his 3rd hard drive.

    vibration is bad on hard drives, RUNNING optical drives and fans, but I have seen the vibration cause backlights to fail as well.

    YES Get an SSD and dont use your optical when bouncing it around

    HDDs and optical drives would be effected. Never heard of a fan.

    Depends on how bad the vibrations are. If your on safari I wouldn't use my laptop open because the lid jarring back and forth could get damaged. Under normal conditions and especially a powered off laptop vibrations wont hurt the screen.
