Awesome, and to follow up on that, do not flash both cards to slave :p

you have no reason to use the slave bios at all unless you were trying to return the unit back to its original state for some reason (say RMA)

Until I get a guide up to use atiflash in the dos prompt and it will list the options.

I recommend you first view the adapters, you should see your master card as adapter 0, and your slave as adapter 1.

Then after doing that you can use the flash all command to flash both cards to a MASTER bios at the same time, or choose the card you want one at a time.

ATIFlash is VERY safe, much faster than WinFlash, the only thing you need to worry about here is Human Error so take it slow and double check everything before you press that enter key.

With ATIFlash its safe, looks like WinFlash has issues with the new flash type.

But thats good for you that probably means you have two brand new cards, im thinking that the old flash type was the "bad" cards.

    Hello vicious,
I actually live in france and neither my cards have this type (good or bad type its a totally different number!!!).... anyway i will use this flash as well, after that do i have to install your drivers or can install the latest from ATI site?
Secondly, can we install on vista as well as on windows seven?

P.S: 12GB patriot and intel 80Gb SSD on their way... YAYYYYYYYYY...
P.S number 2: How could he run his QX9300 at 3.9 Ghz? mine passed 3.21, i get BSOD.......
P.S number 3: You said with overclocked bios on cards we could run them at 800/1100, but on CCC with your drivers or latest from ATI, (includong both cards master), all i see in CCC is 600/900????

    Best regards, DOOPE.

You will have to install the 9.4 modified drivers, the new ones from ATI dont work and even after mobility moding them it seems to have issues.

You probably did not flash the overclocked bios to the cards, also after bios flash you must reboot (if you used winflash)

Windows 7 works for some people, not for others. I think it depends on what version you have. I am not personally going to worry about Win 7 for now since there are so many versions.

When it is being sold in stores and everybody has the same version then I will start finding ways to make it work in win 7.

You can run Win 7 and you can use the 9.4 drivers, but chances are only 1 card will work not both, for most games 1 card is enough actually.

To use new drivers all you need to do is flash the slave card with a master bios so that both cards have a master.

However if you want super high overclocking you need to flash the original master bios with the one I edited for higher overclocking, dont worry about this unless your benchmarking no reason to overclock that high for normal gaming.

AtiFlash has a flash all adapters command, you can just flash both cards with the overclocked master bios in one go and be done with it.

    Hi, Vicious:
I live in China and my laptop is W90Vp-X1. I've flashed the master and slave cards with your oc bios, and installed the 9.4 modified drivers. Actually now the performance is amazing.
Today I download the 9.6 desktop drivers for Win7 64 from ATI website, but I've no idea how to mod it, can you mod the .INF for 9.6 if you are free now. Thanks very much!

Those 9.4 were not modified by me they were modified by another forum member named E-Wrecked, I just wrote the guide on how to use them and packaged it all together. The bios modifications and rip was done by me.

I have an update to the guide pending that I need to get to work on soon.

He has not been around for a long time now, I also very much would like the 9.6 drivers, Crysis was boosted like 12% or more and Crysis was one of the few games ATI always lost to Nvidia so now maybe it will be even.

Oh, what a shame! :( Just like you I'm really like the 9.6 drivers because of the boosted GPU's performance. Anyhow thanks for your replay so soon. I'll keep looking for someone else who can mod it.

    Hello vicious,
just one question about the 9.6 drivers, when you direct the path to the drivers you have to choose between many drivers, which one do you take?
    - the ATI RADEON 4870x2 one?
Because this was my choice but then the cards showed " ATI RADEON 4870" and crossfire got disabled for some reasons?
thanks for your quick reply anyway.
    DOOPE.

I tried a few of them, none of them worked, though I think the 4870 is logically the better choice as this is two 4870M cards in crossfire, NOT a true 4870X2.

Of the 3 or 4 4870 choices all 4 of them point to a different .inf setting. Infact just maybe I have not tried all 4 and one of them may work.

What about the new mobility modder, it´s supposed to support 4870X2. Is there any chance of making it work with catalyst 9.8?

Hi Vicious, yesterday I ran GPU-Z and I realized that hadn´t the crossfire enabled, so I reflashed the graphic cards with the M98-1 Bios. The problem is that when I rebooted the laptop the screen went black and remained black whatever I did. Any Idea, advice before sending to RMA?
What should I say to Asus?

    Thank you very much.

Sounds like you did a bad flash, you could try to do what I did and swap the cards around and boot with your master flashed slave card if you messed up your master.

Otherwise not much you can do really.

This guide was the original, I had updated it to a safer and better one located here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=391294

Its in bold letters right on the first post of this thread, so I hope you noticed that.

Seems some of the newer card types did not like the winflash program, thus the need for the change.
