Vista + G1 = sound stutter?

I have been running Vista for awhile on my G1, and so far almost everything is running flawless.. almost. My only concern is that when enjoying media (whether it is music or a show), it seems the audio is very prone to stutter. I have installed the realtek drivers from the asus ftp, as well as having just tried the official drivers from the realtek site.. both exhibit the same problem.

Has anyone found this? Any suggestions?

 

Lets assume all the hardware is good, we are now left with some software differences.

Here's what I use to solve all my video and sound problems when watching movies, playing music, and so much more.

1) K-Light Codecs - everything you need in 1 awesome file, all codecs
2) VLC - one of the best media players
3) Windows Media Player Classic - another awesome player with a clean interface
4) This is up to you, but I used Winamp for songs in general, some people use Itunes, some use Windows Media Player..it all depends on preferences.

Have a try with that, you can easily google all of these and find them, let us know if this helps.

I've actually already tried most of the things you suggest, unfortunately with varying degrees of failure For example, VLC is also my favorite video player, however for some reason it only shows a black display whenever I try it on my G1 in Vista. (It works when booted into XP though..)

It is because of that that I went out and downloaded the k-light codecs, so I could watch my DiVX shows in WMP instead. This still suffers the same problem unfortunately. I can hear audio through VLC though, but both it and Winamp still stutter quite alot. It makes it difficult to enjoy music on this pc.. something I tend to do frequently.

It seems to occur generally if I'm doing something with the PC.. ie while typing this reply it's stutter worse than if the laptop is idle. I don't think this was an issue in XP, which leads me to think it's a software/driver related issue, whether it's with the audio driver or another driver that's interfering.. I'm not too sure..
