I am getting a SSD and am going to do a clean install but.... My Vista COA is pretty much gone. Will ASUS be able to recall it if I give them my serial number or something?
I do not want to use the restore DVD's because I am vLiting the install to save the SSD's space. As I understand, the restore discs wont work with vLite.

That happened to me. The only real chance you have of redemption is to run the restore and then extract the license key from the registry with a utility. Then you can save that to a text file or print it out and install fresh. I'm not sure ASUS would have your license code on file somewhere, but I guess it's worth a try maybe, as long as your notebook is registered.

Belarc Advisor (free for personal use) shows me my Vista key. 2nd section from the bottom "Software Licenses".

Asus doesn't keep a matched record of the software license codes, the registration data is only linked to the Asus serial #.

Better to try the restore trick that AuG suggests ...

The install I am using was from the restore discs, and I've tried extracting it with software, it gives me an OEM key that people have plunked in a bunch of forums.. I'll try Belarc and see if it gives me a different key but I am doubtful.
I know the OEM key doesn't work because I tried it on a test install of the vLite version I made. It may work with ASUS restore dvds, but that is not an option... yet lol.

Right you're not going to get anything but an OEM key, but that should work with any retail vista media as long as you use the correct edition (home premium probably). I'm not a windows licensing guru, that's for sure. :p Good luck.
