Hey I keep hearing that it dosent come with an actual dvd of vista. just on the parition. So if i wanted to completly reformat or upgrade it and have 1 partition can i just use some1's vista dvd *if its the same kind like home premium or something* and just use my key will that work?? Or can i request a dvd from M$ and pay shipping or something? or do i gota go out and buy a brand new vista dvd? and hope it works.

You get it on a dvd, just not a full version actual retial dvd. Its embeded as part of your drivers disk.

You dont have rights or a way to transfer it to a new computer like full retial, and you cant upgrade to x64 like retail.

Other than that, its the same.

Yes, the key is what determines the version of Vista that is installed, regardless of source (download, dvd, etc). The key can only unlock the Vista version it is connected to, however, on reinstall - i.e. it's a HPremium key, Ultimate key, etc.
