start your posts with "your model":

    ASUS W3J:

So I now have Vista RC2 triple booting with Linux and XP. BLUETOOTH WORKS!! I have to say that this install really screwed up the booting configurations. RC1 went fine but RC2 caused many problems. Past that things seem ok. One thing that is driving me nuts is that msconfig takes 1 minute to load! WTF

What are your experiences with RC2?

Yeah, you just go to Device Manager, choose to update the driver for the audio, and have it search for a driver off the A8Jm CD.

    BAM! Working sound. :)

Ashand, google it and you'll surely get better answers in a few minutes.

Couldn't find the info elsewhere, so here comes a basic question:

Do i need a specific bios for my V1J (do these notebooks generally need?), if i wish to install Vista? Or should the latest one be just fine? How come the W3J needs a hack for Vista to install?

I'd rather ask dumb questions than jump the gun.

    Cameron: "What'd i do?"
    Ferris: "..."
    Cameron "What'd i do?!"
    Ferris: "...You killed the car."

Installed RC2, everything is working, except 2-3 unknown hardware...strange,
Nvidia drivers dont work, my screen resolution is 1024X768 now, but my screen support 1440X990...any Nvidia drivers for VISTA?
Intel PROWireless software not working, anyone know on a beta or software that can work with vista?

I am running RC2 on my V6J and everything is working perfectly. Aero is running great...speed is at least as good as XP if not actually faster. Very impressed with this latest release.

Anyone's iTunes crashing? I'm trying to find a way to update my iPod in Vista without using iTunes -- any suggestions?

Also, does anyone recommend installing antivirus? I can't think of a reason to do that right now.

Installed Vista on V1J yesterday. Installation completed without a hitch. Vista found drivers for most of the devices during installation, and the rest could be installed by updating the drivers from the driver disc provided with the notebook.

One exception: the fingerprint scanner wasn't recognized by Vista, nor did the Asus drivers help.

Overall seems quite ready, except for the Media Center which is eating up 30-60% processor time and 40% of 2gb physical memory just playing an mp3 file...

If I install Vista RC2, could I still play games? Like Counterstrike or Battlefield 2142? Cause I have an RC2 disc but I don't want to install it If I can't play games.
