I posted a couple of days ago that I was having intermittent crackling thru my Realtek Hi Def soundcard (Asus W2P). I had got the computer ready to send back to Asus & someone told me there was an updated driver...I installed it and the problem was solved. The problem mysteriously returned yesterday.....
To cut a long story short, when I had got the computer ready to ship back ,one of the things I did was remove the ReadyBoost SD card I was using. As it turns out, the fix was that I had removed the SD card not the updated driver, when I put the sd card back in the crackling returned.....I have now tested this several times and I can confirm that using readyboost makes Realtek soundcards crackle ....Hope this is helpful.

can you confirm that its readyboost and not the SD card reader? For example, try doing a large file transfer to the SD card, and see if you have the issue. Alternatively, try using a USB drive for readyboost and see if you still get the issue. If its only with the SD card, perhaps there is an updated driver for that.

I can confirm it as I have also used a USB dongle as a Readyboost device with the same result, on another forum (green button) Some guy just reported that he was having a crackling issue with a Realtek card (I'm not a member of the site yet so I haven't replied to him)...I looked down at his specs and he is using a USB Readyboost dongle. I sent an email to Realtek to ask them if they are aware/have a fix for the issue

I have a V1JP and the soundcard crackles whenever I write onto the SD card using the built in cardreader. I however use ReadyBoost with a 2Gb Kingston memory stick and works like a charm, there is no crackling using the USB stick. So I do not think it is a problem with ReadyBoost.

Same thing here with an A8jp. Readyboost is useless with the card reader, sound crackles when it does read/writes.
Vista ReadyBoost Doesn't like Soundcards!!
